What to Expect at Your Consultation

During your first visit to Palmetto Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, P.A., you’ll meet with one of our surgeons to discuss the reason for your appointment and review your medical history. Your surgeon may take imaging—such as X-rays or 3D scans—to better understand your condition and confirm a diagnosis.

For more complex procedures, we may also consult with your referring dentist or physician to coordinate your care. Once your treatment plan is developed, your surgeon will review all recommendations, explain your options, and answer any questions you may have.

Please note that a preoperative consultation is required for all patients. Be sure to inform our medical staff of any existing medical conditions (such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, or joint replacements) and provide a list of all current medications, including aspirin, anticoagulants, and osteoporosis medications.

What to Bring to Your Appointment

To help us prepare for your consultation, please bring the following items:

  • Referral form and any relevant X-rays
  • Completed Patient Registration and Medical History forms
  • A current list of medications
  • Medical and/or dental insurance information

Important: Patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian during their consultation visit.

Your Payment and Insurance Options

At Palmetto Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, we’re committed to providing high-quality care at a reasonable cost. A deposit is required on the day of your procedure, based on your insurance coverage. We will file medical and dental insurance claims on your behalf and issue any applicable refunds as quickly as possible.

You are responsible for any balance not covered by your insurance or initial deposit. Because procedure fees are estimates, final costs may vary depending on the complexity of treatment and additional services.

You will receive a monthly statement detailing your balance and payments. Most insurance companies process claims within four to six weeks; if your statement does not reflect payment within that time, please contact our office. Any remaining balance after insurance processing is your responsibility, and prompt payment is appreciated.

Please note the following important details about our financial policies:

  • Insurance Information: Patients are responsible for providing complete and accurate insurance information prior to treatment. If insurance details are not provided, the patient will be considered self-pay until that information is received.
  • Out-of-Network: Our office is not in-network with any insurance providers. We are happy to file claims as a courtesy, but patients are responsible for any remaining balance after insurance reimbursement.
  • Medicare: We do not accept Medicare.
  • Payment Methods: For your convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. We no longer accept CareCredit as a form of payment.
